Jessica reveals for the first time her inner monologue and most intimate struggles. Guided by the journals she's kept since age fifteen, and brimming with her unique humor and down-to-earth humanity, Open Book is as inspiring as it is entertaining.

This was supposed to be a very different book. Five years ago, Jessica Simpson was approached to write a motivational guide to living your best life. She walked away from the offer, and nobody understood why. The truth is that she didn’t want to lie.

Jessica couldn’t be authentic with her readers if she wasn’t fully honest with herself first.

Now America’s Sweetheart, preacher’s daughter, pop phenomenon, reality tv pioneer, and the billion-dollar fashion mogul invites readers on a remarkable journey, examining a life that blessed her with the compassion to help others, but also burdened her with an almost crippling need to please. Open Book is Jessica Simpson using her voice, heart, soul, and humor to share things she’s never shared before.

First celebrated for her voice, she became one of the most talked-about women in the world, whether for music and fashion, her relationship struggles, or as a walking blonde joke. But now, instead of being talked about, Jessica is doing the talking. Her book shares the wisdom and inspirations she’s learned and shows the real woman behind all the pop-culture cliché’s — “chicken or fish,” “Daisy Duke,” "football jinx," “mom jeans,” “sexual napalm…” and more. Open Book is an opportunity to laugh and cry with a close friend, one that will inspire you to live your best, most authentic life, now that she is finally living hers.

I didn’t really know what to expect, but had no idea she would be so open about everything. This was very hard to put down. Every woman needs to read it.

I’ve always been a fan of Jessica Simpson. I was so excited when I found out she wrote a book and I counted down the days until its release. But I found myself bored reading it. Like reading a 15-year-old’s journal. There were lots of unnecessary details when not needed and very few when needed. I found myself forcing my eyes to finish but only because I don’t like to leave things undone.
  • Wow just wow

Let me start by saying that Im an avid ready however I have never read a biography before. I was a fan of Jessica’s growing up. Listening to her music and then watching her shows and movies. Then she sort of disappeared from the lime light. I always wondered. So of course I was curious when her book came out. I downloaded the sample to see if it would grab my attention. Well it did. So I downloaded it and COULD NOT put it down. I was sneaking my phone at work so I could read it during down time. I was really surprised to read some of the details of her abuse and her relationships. I felt like I was in an emotional journey reading it. It’s made me realize that I need to come clean about abuse that I suffered as a child and also as an adult. It might be difficult but the end result can be so freeing. I’m so glad I read this. Thank you for sharing your story.

I’m sure there is a little bit of all of us in this book. I know I read it in a day thinking it was me. She’s changed me since I was 13 and she’s changed me now. Thank you, Jessica.

This book held my interest from start to finish. I have never really followed Jessica’s career apart from the celebrity gossip but I have always rooted for her to succeed. Her honesty, self awareness, and vulnerability come across so well in this autobiography. She covers so many of the issues that we all face in life and the last few chapters had me bawling. I recommend the audiobook that includes her narration and some great new music.
